Matt McBride

from The Mourners Forget Which Funeral They Are At

In the dream,

I was on the set of a sitcom,

crawling behind furniture

to avoid the camera.

Extension cords

wrote drunk signatures

over the surface of the lake,

and in the street, waving

mannequin limbs like flags,

the children, eyes red

from the chlorine fog.
