Sarah McMurry is a fiber artist based in Missouri creating work in both Columbia and Kansas City, MO. Sarah's work combines a playful approach to making with a reverence for traditional craft methods. Using slow-processes like quilting, stitching, knitting, weaving and mending in combination with natural dye, her work offers a contemporary take on the past that unites us together. Sarah is currently pursuing a BFA in Fiber at the Kansas City Art Institute where she has a work-study position as the Weaving Room Monitor. She is the recipient of a Susan Lordi Marker award for excellence in Fiber, and a Barbara Kuhlman Foundation Scholarship. She has had work in shows in Kansas City and Columbia, MO as well as Fort Collins, CO. Sarah is an active member in the local fiber community and has worked at MM Fiber Mill where she processed local wool into yarn and Mana Meadows where she is currently working as a weaving assistant and farm hand for their alpacas.
