Jory Mickelson
Motherhood
When my child
died, correction—
my child
didn't, when she was
born, correction—
formed in my
womb without
a brain, delicate
helm of bone
destructible—correction
corruptible and empty
headed, absolve me
of what couldn’t
be, the unfinished
into which
she'd evaporate
