Liane Tyrrel

Birthday Poem

Now I say I’m 55. There is this dried

lichen on dead tree trunks. Numbered

utility poles. I have no patience. So many

vines on the side of the road. They say

God the Creator loves creativity. This

has always been lodged inside of me.

The house getting bigger now as it ages.

Everything growing wild. Multiplying

and trying to get out.
